Car-bus collision kills two near Kengeri

A 22-year-old and an 18-year-old woman were killed after the car they were traveling in jumped the median, entered on the opposite side of the road and collided with a minibus.

The accident happened near the BDA toll gate near Kengeri in West Bengaluru on Thursday evening.

The car and the minibus overturned. While the bus driver was seriously injured, a few bus passengers were injured.

Sumukh, who was driving the Honda City car, and Leela G Naidu died instantly. One of the car’s tires separated from the vehicle and struck an SUV, which was badly damaged in the crash.

The accident happened around 5:15 p.m.

Police say Sumukh was driving the car recklessly and Leela was sitting next to him when the accident happened.

Leela, a BBA student at a private college, resided in Rajarajeshwarinagar. His father is employed in a private company. Sumukh is a final year graduate student at MS Ramaiah College. Her father is a businessman and a resident of RR Nagar.

The bus driver and the injured passengers were treated in different hospitals. The passengers had gone to a resort for a picnic and were returning to Bangalore.

The police collect information about the injured. Further investigation is underway.
