One person has been taken to hospital after a double crash on the M65 involving seven vehicles.
Police, paramedics, firefighters and traffic officers were called to reports of two separate collisions on the same stretch of freeway this morning (March 14). It happened on the westbound carriageway between J3 and J4 near Blackburn and Darwen.
One lane was closed around 9 a.m. as emergency services responded. The closure resulted in over two miles of delays in the area and traffic jams around D5.

National Highways North West originally tweeted: “Two separate collisions have occurred on the M65 between J4 and J3. Lane 2 is closed while emergency services respond to the scene.
“There are currently 2.4 miles of congestion as the incidents approach.”
Lancashire Police later confirmed “up to seven vehicles” were involved.
The North West Ambulance Service said one victim was taken to hospital for treatment. No further details have been released about the patient or the severity of his injuries.
All lanes have since reopened. Congestion in the area has eased and no arrests have been reported.
