CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, MARCH 24, 2022 AT 10:00 AM EET

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been selected to supply complete sets of RoRo equipment for four Aurora-class Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC) to be built by China Merchant Heavy Industries (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. for Norwegian owner, Höegh Autoliners.

The order, valued at more than US$15 million, was recognized in Cargotec’s first quarter 2022 order intake. The first two vessels will be delivered in the second half of 2024 and the next two in the first half of 2025. Höegh Autoliners also has options for four plus four additional vessels.

Designed by China Merchants Industries-owned ship designer Deltamarin, the Aurora Class can carry up to 9,100 cars and will be the largest and most durable car carrier in the world. The class will have DNV ammonia and methanol ready logging.

MacGregor’s scope of supply includes the design, supply and installation assistance of a large rear quarter ramp and gate, side ramp and gate and decks- lift-up garages.

The ships’ reinforced decks and internal ramp systems will allow electric vehicles to be transported on all decks, with MacGregor’s patented load monitoring system increasing the load capacity of the ramp and providing more flexibility for cargoes of heavier project.

“We are very pleased to have supported Höegh Autoliners from the early stages of the Aurora Class project, building on previous Horizon Class ships and our longstanding relationship with Höegh Autoliners,” said Magnus Sjöberg, Senior Vice President, Merchant Solutions, MacGregor. .

“Close collaboration with the owner, designer and builder is essential for a project such as the Aurora class to succeed, and we look forward to continuing our work together towards the delivery of the first two ships in 2024,” said he added.

“We are excited to continue the relationship with MacGregor to build our Aurora-class ships. MacGregor’s cutting-edge technology and expertise ensure that our vessels are built to the highest standards. The Aurora class represents the future of our business. This will further strengthen our service offering, accelerate our path to zero emissions and put us at the forefront of sustainable shipping. says Andreas Enger, CEO of Höegh Autoliners.
