Reduce your taxes by donating to your child’s public school

SAFFORD – It doesn’t matter if you’re an Apache, Bulldog, Eagle, Roughrider, Wildcat, or Wildkat – the Arizona Public School Tax Credit can help you support the school of your choice.

A donation to the public school of your choice will earn you a dollar-for-dollar credit on your Arizona tax liability. You can choose which extracurricular activity, club or fee you want your donation to benefit from – such as band, drama, Skills USA, athletics or more – or you can leave that decision to the administration of the school.

You can also solicit donations from outside the area for local public schools. As long as a grandmother and grandfather, or aunts and uncles, live in Arizona and file an Arizona tax return, they are eligible for the public school tax credit when they donate to the school of your child.

Couples filing jointly can donate up to $400, individual filers can donate up to $200. However, any amount up to the maximum is eligible for dollar-for-dollar credit. Can you only afford a $50 donation? Its good; your school will be happy for anything you can do to help.

This donation helps keep your local taxes. Your donation acts immediately in your community, supporting the eligible school of your choice.
