Maeve Bellefontaine was working at her part-time job as a beauty specialist at Shoppers Drug Mart when she heard a loud crash and a car “that came flying in that direction, hit my car and then came onto the sidewalk “. Bellefontaine saw him perform through the store’s Gladstone Avenue windows and ran outside.

“I was worried about my car, but I was also worried about them (the driver),” Bellefontaine said.

The young driver appeared shocked and disoriented, she said.

This newspaper confirmed to the police that there were no deaths related to the incident. No injury information has been released.

Bellefontaine said he spoke to the driver of another vehicle hit in the incident – a father, driving with his young son in the car and preparing to turn onto Gladstone when they were hit. Their airbags did not deploy, but both appeared unharmed, Bellefontaine said.

At least one other vehicle was damaged in the incident, but what exactly happened is unclear.
