Teenage cyclist rushed to hospital after single vehicle collision in Meath

A teenager was rushed to hospital after a single vehicle collision in County Meath on Wednesday evening.

The Gardai and the emergency services were alerted to the scene in the Athboy area around 8 p.m.

The teenager was taken to Notre-Dame de Lourdes hospital for treatment.

His injuries were described as not life-threatening.

It is understood he was riding a bicycle at the time of the collision.

A garda spokesperson said: ‘Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle traffic accident which occurred at approximately 8pm last night, Wednesday April 20, 2022 in the area from Athboy to Co Meath.

“A teenaged young man was transported to Notre-Dame de Lourdes for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained as a result of this collision.

“The road involved in this collision is currently open for use.”
