VicPD is looking for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run collision with a stolen vehicle

The Victoria Police Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who was involved in a hit and run collision with a stolen vehicle.

The head-on collision took place shortly after 2:50 p.m. March 24 in the 1700 block of Fort Street.

Police say they were called to a report of a head-on hit-and-run collision between a Ford F150 and a black 2018 Toyota Highlander.

According to reports, the Toyota Highlander crossed the center line and collided with the Ford F150, making contact hard enough to deploy the airbags in both vehicles while also causing significant damage.

Police learned that following the collision, tThe Highlander driver got out of the vehicle, pulled something out of the trunk, and drove off.

British Columbia Emergency Health Services paramedics also attended the scene and medically cleared the driver of the F150 following the collision.

As officers spoke with the driver of the F150, they were notified of a 911 call reporting that a black 2018 Toyota Highlander had been stolen from a parking lot in the 500 block of Yates Street between 11:50 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. 50.

Officers confirmed that this stolen vehicle was the black 2018 Toyota Highlander involved in the collision.

As part of the investigation, police were able to locate surveillance footage of the suspect captured in the 1800 block of Fort Street after the collision.

He is described as a man around 24 years old, with a slim build and shoulder-length dark brown hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a gray hooded jacket with black markings, patterned gray pants, a black cap and a backpack. He was also carrying a black bag, an acoustic guitar, and a chunky skateboard with bright yellow wheels.
