4 dead after a head-on collision on the highway. 7 East of Peterborough: Ontario Provincial Police

Four people died in a head-on collision Highway 7east of Peterborough, Ont., Tuesday evening.

Around 5:15 p.m., Peterborough County Provincial Police responded to a head-on collision between a pickup truck and an SUV on the highway near Drummond Line in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, the Ontario Provincial Police said.

A victim was transported to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No details have yet been released on the victims.

“The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Route 7 remains closed between Keene Road and Heritage Line while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene,” police said.
