73-year-old woman killed in Culver City traffic accident

The 4th of July incident is still under investigation by the CCPD

A 73-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car in Culver City last week.

According to the Culver City Police Department (CCPD), on July 4 at approximately 1:59 p.m., officers responded to a call for duty from a traffic accident involving a vehicle into a pedestrian at the Green Valley Circle intersection. and Doverwood Drive.

“Culver City Police officers, along with personnel from the Culver City Fire Department arrived at the scene and found a 73-year-old woman lying unconscious on the roadway. The woman suffered serious life-threatening injuries. Life-saving efforts were immediately initiated and the woman was immediately transported to a local hospital by firefighters,” CCPD said.

The 73-year-old succumbed to her injuries and died on July 7. A notification was made to the next of kin of the victim by the CCPD. The identity of the victim was not announced by the CCPD.

CCPD’s initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on Green Valley Circle and made a southbound turn onto Doverwood Drive.

“After the driver turned onto Doverwood Drive, his vehicle struck the pedestrian crossing the intersection. After hitting the pedestrian, the driver remained at the scene of the traffic accident,” the CCPD said.

The traffic collision is still under investigation by the CCPD. Police noted that preliminary stages of the investigation suggest alcohol or drug use does not appear to be a contributing factor to the cause of the traffic collision.
