A biker seriously injured in a collision in Pomfret | News, Sports, Jobs

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a collision Saturday afternoon with a vehicle on Route 5.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies say they responded with the Fredonia Fire Department at the intersection of VanBuren Road in the town of Pomfret around 3:29 p.m. An investigation and reconstruction of the accident revealed that 31-year-old Merritt Wolcott of Brocton was riding a 1996 Suzuki motorcycle heading west. on Route 5 at high speed.

Kaitlyn Hill, 21, of Noblesville, Ind., was driving a 2013 Toyota Sedan northbound on VanBuren Road crossing Route 5 to continue on Lake Avenue. Hill pulled into the intersection and was hit in the rear passenger side door by Wolcott’s motorcycle.

Following the collision, Wolcott was treated at the scene and airlifted by Stat Medivac to a hospital in Pennsylvania. Hill was not injured. The accident is currently under investigation.
