Cyclist killed in crash with car in Pierce County

A person riding a bicycle Tuesday afternoon on Pacific Avenue in Parkland died in a collision with another vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The cyclist killed in the collision has not yet been publicly identified.

Cavalier Robert Reyer reported the incident on Twitter around 4:19 p.m., he said it happened at Pacific Avenue and 133rd Street South. Soldiers, fire crews and the Washington State Department of Transportation responded to the scene.

Details of how the accident happened or what caused it were not immediately available. According to Reyer, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for at least two and a half hours while crews investigated the incident.
