Geraldton: Fatal single motor vehicle collision claims the life of Yvonne SAMSON of Red Lake

GERALDTON – NEWS – Sad news as Highway 11 claimed another victim.

A 69-year-old Red Lake man has been pronounced dead following a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11.

On August 19, 2022 at approximately 6:50 p.m. EDT, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Greenstone Detachment and Superior North Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 between Longlac and Highway 631.

The vehicle was traveling westbound when it left the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the second occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver has been identified as Yvonne SAMSON, 69, of Red Lake, ON.

Police would like to thank members of the public who stopped to help at the scene.

The investigation, led by members of the Ontario Provincial Police Greenstone Detachment with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) , continues in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario. The autopsy will take place later.
