1. Context of the launch of this service

Competition is increasingly fierce for the development of systems used in AD/ADAS, with new systems being introduced to the market at a steady pace. Research and development efforts also continue to improve. As a result, a large number of complex software applications are installed in each vehicle. In light of these trends, the human-vehicle interface in the cockpit (in and around the driver’s seat) has also become more sophisticated.

System verification and evaluation work is often conducted in virtual simulation, but there is an increasing need for field testing using real vehicles on public roads to guarantee reliability. With a growing trend towards digital display of information in vehicles, there is a need to check quality in terms of visibility, operability and convenience of mobility, as well as comfort in the cockpit.

However, it is difficult for customers to carry out field trials using real vehicles, as it requires considerable effort and resources to organize field trials, design routes and manage the trial on field.

At VeriServe, we have supported efforts to improve software quality for approximately 40 years through our verification services in a wide range of areas. We also offer assistance in designing efficient routes for driving while leveraging our extensive experience and knowledge from field testing using real vehicles, as well as the tools we have developed through these tests. in the field. We have a strong track record of field testing using real vehicles in 25 countries around the world. We can also assign Japanese engineers who can communicate in English to undertake work, as this is necessary when verifying the functionality of on-board devices or evaluating the cockpit and related applications of overseas vendors.

We provide full support through our proprietary systems: the FT Map System*2 which helps to design driving routes, and TREES*3 which integrates different aspects for evaluation.

(3) Comprehensive evaluation support to link platforms connected to vehicles

We provide a full assessment*4 support while working from a wide range of perspectives to link vehicles to applications, for example in the following areas:

  • Evaluation of in-vehicle devices using real vehicles
  • Performance evaluation in a real vehicle connected to a connected platform and a smartphone (end-to-end test)
  • Verifying compatibility between a smartphone app and a cockpit display (DA) audio system installed in a vehicle
  • Checking connectivity with smartphones that support CarPlay (CP)*5 or Android Auto (AA)*6
  • Benchmark tests for BT/BLE*7 Connections

(4) Proven flexible response

It is essential to manage and respond to a wide range of sudden and unexpected events (risks) that may arise throughout the process, such as rescheduling due to development delays, redesign of test routes due to natural disasters or bad weather, and re-collection of data due to traffic sign recognition issues for obstructions. We react flexibly to many different events that pose the risk of delaying the entire project.

(5) Continuous updates of the service in line with the advancement of IT

We’re updating charging station location data as electric vehicles become more popular. We are also working to update fleet management and safe driving measures, we are collecting and accumulating data for in-vehicle devices, and we are rapidly adopting new guidelines and directions established by the activities of the organizations concerned.
