LEHI, Utah – A westbound Lehi fire truck on SR-92 collided with a southbound Chevy Spark from the I-15 off-ramp on October 21 at approximately 12:37 p.m.
The Utah Department of Public Safety said in a Release the collision occurred on SR-92 at the I-15 interchange intersection.
According to the statement, the fire truck flashed lights and sirens to call for service. However, as the truck approached an intersection, with the southbound I-15 exit lanes, a t-bone type accident occurred with the Chevy.
The driver of the Chevy Spark, a 20-year-old woman, was fatally injured in the accident. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died instantly.
The firefighters were slightly injured.
Eastbound traffic remained open, however, westbound traffic was closed for approximately 4.5 hours.
In addition, conditions that may have caused the accident are being investigated.
In a statement from Lehi City, it said the fire truck was responding to a commercial fire alarm call at the time of the accident. Additionally, he said the Utah Highway Patrol is overseeing the investigation. Therefore, any questions regarding the survey should be directed to the UHP PIO.
“Our hearts go out to everyone involved and affected by this tragic accident,” the statement read.
