Man faces multiple charges in crash that claimed motorcyclist’s life

A Roanoke Rapids man is facing multiple charges in a collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Saturday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Private RP Dennis said Antonio D. Pritchett was charged with failing to yield, motor vehicle misdemeanor death, failure to inspect, fictitious tags, failure to register, absence insurance and driving with a revoked licence.

The collision claimed the life of Tyrus D. Neville of Stack Powell Road who was traveling south on Highway 48.

Pritchett was traveling east on State Road 1494 and stopped in a Honda at the stop sign before turning left onto Highway 48.

Dennis, however, said that Pritchett “failed to make sure everything was clear before going onto NC 48 ahead of the Suzuki”.

Pritchett collided with Neville, who was thrown off the bike on impact. Neville succumbed at the scene.

No alcohol was suspected and speed was not a factor.

Neville wore a DOT-approved helmet.
