Man injured in collision with burning car near Hondo Street [Downey, CA]

Two-vehicle accident near Old River School Road leaves one dead

DOWNEY, Calif. (August 3, 2022) – Early Friday morning, a man was injured in a fiery car collision near Hondo Street.

The incident happened on July 22, around 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of Hondo Street and Old River School Road. The accident involved a large sedan and a pickup truck.

For reasons currently unknown, the sedan struck the rear of the van, causing the sedan to catch fire.

First responders arrived at the scene shortly after and had to extricate the driver of the sedan from the wreckage. Paramedics then rushed him to a local hospital to treat his injuries. Authorities have yet to release his name or update on his condition.

The condition of the driver of the van is currently unknown.
