Mitchell Obtains Third Patent for Collision Repair Diagnostics

SAN DIEGO, November 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Mitchell, an Enlyte company and leading provider of technology and information for the Damage & Accident (P&C) claims and Collision Repair industries, today announced that it has been awarded another auto diagnostic patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent (11,462,061) – which is specific to collision repair and auto physical damage claims – covers key workflow enhancements designed to support safe and efficient repairs that go beyond simple diagnostic trouble code (DTC) clearing and analysis.

Mitchell was awarded his first automotive diagnostic patent (10,152,836) in 2018 and his second (11,151,812) in 2021. His most recent patent covers unique methods of using cloud-based technology to bring diagnostic procedures OEM relevant directly to repair technicians using a diagnostic scan tool. . This feature-deployed in 2020 through an integration between Mitchell Diagnostics and Mitchell Technical Advisor– Automatically links scan DTCs to associated OEM repair procedure when available. This can help technicians make real-time repair decisions. The patent also includes the systematic method of documenting that the necessary diagnostic and repair procedures have been performed, helping to expedite the payment of claims and giving vehicle owners additional assurance that operations such as recalibrations have been performed.

They can also download standardized analysis and calibration reports as well as invoices to share with insurers.
