Moodbidri: Car collision with a school bus – A 39-year-old man dies of his injuries

Moodbidri, November 4: A motorist died in a hospital following a road accident Wednesday, November 2 midnight.

The deceased is identified as Rajesh Acharya (39), from Karkala. The car he was driving crashed into a school bus on National Road 169 near Basavanakaje in Alangar. Following the accident, Rajesh Acharya was seriously injured and was admitted to a hospital where he was unable to respond to treatment.

Rajesh was driving from Karkala and his vehicle hit a school bus from St Thomas English School in Alangar and both vehicles were damaged. The schoolchildren escaped unscathed with minor injuries.

Another passenger who was traveling in the car with Rajesh was seriously injured and is being treated at a hospital.

The late Rajesh Acharya was a woodcarver and made chariots for the temples of Kodyadka, Polali and Kateelu. He was the son of Appu Acharya. Rajesh was involved in a car touring business. This accident happened while he was returning from his parents’ house. He is survived by his wife and a 14-year-old daughter. Rajesh Acharya lived in Attavara in Mangaluru where he had built his own house, we learn.
