Motor vehicle collision on East Lake Boulevard results in one lane closure

By 3 p.m., the southbound lane of East Lake Boulevard SE was reduced to one lane as firefighters and police closed the second lane to allow for the cleanup of wreckage.

A collision involving a truck and a four-door sedan occurred in east Airdrie around 2.30pm on June 16 at the intersection of East Lake Boulevard SE and Meadowbrook Drive SE.

By 3 p.m., the southbound lane of East Lake Boulevard SE was reduced to one lane as firefighters and police closed the second lane to allow for the cleanup of wreckage.

Motorists who typically take this route can always expect delays and may need to find an alternate way to reach their destination.

The Big Springs Way SE entrance via East Lake Boulevard SE and Meadowbrook Drive SE was completely closed as of 3 p.m. Drivers can access the road alternately by taking Big Springs Drive SE.

According to witnesses at the scene, the truck ran a red light and slammed into the driver’s side of the car. The driver of the car was pulled from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

Those at the scene said the two drivers were walking through the scene after getting out of their vehicles.

A police or fire department report regarding the accident was not immediately distributed.
