NFI Group Inc. – SamTrans of California orders 10 ZEBs, 20 chargers and complete infrastructure solutions from NFI

ST. CLOUD, Minn.NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), a leading independent bus and coach manufacturer and leader in electric mass mobility solutions, announced that its subsidiary New Flyer from America Inc. (“New Flyer”) has received a new contract from San Mateo County Transit (“SamTrans”) for 10 Xcelsior CHARGE NG next-generation, battery-electric, forty-foot transit buses. Order includes 20 ABB 150 kWh plug-in chargers, project coordination and commissioning by NFI Infrastructure Solutions to support Zero Emission Bus (“ZEB”) deployment in San Mateo County. This order has been included in NFI’s Q2 2022 backlog.

SamTrans provides transportation services in San Mateo County and parts of San Francisco and Palo Alto, Californiaoffering almost nine million bus journeys per year on 70 bus routes.

Supported by Federal Public Transport Administration (“FTA”), the order follows SamTrans’ 2021 purchase of seven forty-foot Xcelsior CHARGE NG buses and propels the agency’s sustainability policy. The purchase also advances the achievement of California Air Resources Council (“CARB”) Innovative Clean Transit (“TIC”) regulations, requiring agencies to transition bus fleets to 100% zero emissions by 2040.
