Pedestrian, 80s, dies following collision in Co Clare

A pedestrian in his 80s died following a road traffic accident on the R352, Mountshannon, Co. Clare on Saturday evening.

At around 7:45 p.m., a car collided with a pedestrian, an octogenarian, who has since been pronounced dead.

Gardaí said in a statement: “Gardaí is currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic accident on the R352, Mountshannon, Co. Clare.

“At approximately 7:45 p.m. this evening, Saturday November 5, 2022, a car collided with a pedestrian, an octogenarian, who has since been pronounced dead.

“R352 is currently closed and local diversions are in place to allow a technical review to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision investigators.”

Gardaí in Ennis is calling for all witnesses to this collision to come forward.

All road users with camera footage (including the dash cam) of the R352 between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. today, are asked to make it available to investigate Gardaí.
