A traffic accident at dawn on Tuesday caused the death of a pedestrian near Victor Valley College in Victorville.
The incident is the second pre-dawn pedestrian fatality on Bear Valley Road near Victor Valley College in less than five months.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies responded to a single vehicle call to a pedestrian at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told the Daily Press.
The collision happened on Bear Valley Road, just west of Jacaranda Avenue and near the entrance to Victor Valley College.
The unidentified male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said.
Witnesses told the Daily Press the driver of a white van remained at the scene during the investigation, which shut down part of Bear Valley Road for hours.
On March 29, a 28-year-old woman from Barstow was fatally struck by a vehicle near Victor Valley College.
Victorville Sheriff’s Station officials reported that at 4:12 a.m., deputies responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mojave Fish Hatchery Road. Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies and medical staff located the pedestrian and pronounced her dead.
Deputies from the Victorville Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team heard the pedestrian was struck in the westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road, just west of Mojave Fish Hatchery Road.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
