A series of awareness raising activities and programs were organized by the RailTel Corporation of India – a public sector unit of Mini Ratna under the Union Ministry of Railways, for its employees as part of the Vigilance Awareness (VAW)-2022.
Focused on the objective of bringing together all stakeholders to participate in the prevention of corruption, and to raise public awareness of the threats posed by corruption, the week-long vigilance program was observed between October 31 and 6 November on ‘Corruption free India for a developed nation,’ an official statement from RailTel said on Saturday.
The week-long annual program kicked off on October 31 with the Integrity Pledge and Unity Day Pledge administered by Sanjai Kumar, RailTel’s Chief General Manager for New Delhi Employees. Employees from RailTel’s regional offices also joined the program via videoconference.
Some of the activities held during this period included Integrity Pledge, National Unity Day Pledge, Nukkad Natak, Reporting, Compendium Launch, Vigilance Bulletin Launch, expert conferences and various internal competitions.
Addressing the closing day of the week-long programme, Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel said that integrity is a virtue that must be instilled, imbibed and regularly reinforced in every individual from an early age, to enable them to grow and evolve into a responsible citizen. It is one of the most essential and desirable values that an employer looks for in its employees. “We (RailTel) are committed to introducing cutting-edge technology-based initiatives into all aspects of our work, bringing greater transparency and objectivity,” he said.
CMD Kumar also launched the “Systemic Improvements in RailTel-A Compendium” and “Vigilance Bulletin 2022” in the presence of senior RaiTel officials including CVO Dr Chandramani Sharma, Director (Finance) V Rama Manohara Rao, among others .
Dr. Chandramani Sharma, CVO of RailTel, in his address urged all RailTel employees not only to cooperate in vigilance work but also to implement systemic improvements to avoid unintended errors and also to ensure that ‘they are supported in the future and as RailTel grows. “Vigilance administration includes preventive and punitive anti-corruption measures. To perform our duties with Vigilance, we require the cooperation of employees without any hesitation. It is important to focus on preventive vigilance,” he said. he declares.
Experts were invited to share their expertise on different aspects of vigilance and they gave lectures/made presentations on related topics, including presentations on topics ranging from open source intelligence (OSINT), detection from falsification and decryption of document tampering, to technology initiatives – maintaining and updating the website and identifying new areas for customer/staff service delivery to be put on the online portal and initiating milestones creating an online platform.
The week-long ceremony ended with a farewell ceremony, the presentation of VAW, the 2022 observation report and the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions. A three-month campaign on “Preventive Vigilance and Internal Management Activities” has also been organized by all ministries/departments/organizations starting August 16 and the campaign is expected to continue until November 15.
