Serious collision downtown

A collision involving several vehicles closed a downtown street to traffic on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a stretch of Second Avenue near Seymour Street shortly after 9 a.m. to a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles.

When Castanet Kamloops arrived at the scene around 9:15 a.m., paramedics were seen tending to a person still inside a damaged vehicle.

Police, Kamloops firefighters and paramedics from BC Ambulance were all present.

The collision happened on 2nd Avenue between St. Andrews on the Square and the Kamloops Museum and Archives.

The road, on which debris is strewn, is closed between Seymour Street and Saint-Paul Street while crews deal with the wreckage. Three vehicles appear to have been involved.

There is no word on injuries yet.

This is the second morning in a row that a serious accident has closed a street in downtown Kamloops. Tuesday, a car transporter left Columbia Street and crashed into the front yard of a home near 12th Avenue, forcing crews to shut down a stretch of Columbia for hours.
