Southbound 406 is closed to Highway 420 after collision sends two people to hospital

Two people injured after the car stopped to help the vehicle into a ditch.
Southbound Highway 406 is closed to Highway 20 in Thorold due to a serious accident.
The OPP say an SUV went into a ditch.
Another car pulled over the left shoulder to help, and when the female driver got out, a man driving a third vehicle hit the back of the stopped car.
The 29-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man driving the third car were hospitalized.
The Ontario Provincial Police say the 23-year-old has been hospitalized with serious injuries, but at this time officials are awaiting updates on the condition of the two injured.
The 62-year-old driver of the original SUV was not injured.
It is not yet known how the first vehicle entered the ditch.
