Authorities continued to investigate the death of a Valley Center motorcyclist following a crash in unincorporated Escondido on Friday.
The three-vehicle collision happened on Bear Valley Parkway at Birch Avenue around 4:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, 41, was riding a black Harley Davidson Street Glide in the northern Bear Valley lane approaching Birch, the CHP said, when he collided with a silver Hyundai Sonata, being driven by a motorist 43 year old from Escondido. She had been eastbound on Birch.
The crash resulted in the Harley Davidson and rider hitting an unoccupied Hyundai Accent parked along the Bear Valley right sidewalk and two pedestrians, a 33-year-old woman from Escondido and a 45-year-old man from San Diego.
Doctors transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he later died. The two pedestrians were also sent to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Sonata reported no injuries.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for more than three hours.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have contributed to the collision. The
investigation is ongoing. The CHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has other information to contact the agency’s Oceanside office at (760) 643-3400.
